George Davies, who founded Next in the eighties and George at Asda in the nineties, visited Marks and Spencer in Southport to launch his new per una range.
George was launching the Speziale range. An "Italian inspired tailoring range from per una featuring sleek and wearable wardrobe essentials."
Fasionistas caught up with him for a quick chat about how he came up with the designs. He said: "I know women's bodies, better than women know their own bodies!
"We've never done tailoring at M&S Southport, so I've given them something top. I'm pleased to see various sizes on today.
"There's no art in designing something for a girl who's size 8 - and that's not our customer."
Staff at Southport's M&S modelled the designs on a catwalk set up in the store.

I'm sorry to say I'm not crazy about some of the Speziale pieces. The Pietra skirt I saw online was awful and I couldn't believe it was £85. Unbelievable.

I liked the Carmela suit but at a hefty £89.50 for the jacket and £45 for the skirt, I might have to give it a miss.

During his time in Southport, George reminisced about spending his youth there. He said: "I have so many great memories of Southport, I'll always have an affection for the area.
"As a 23-year-old I remember coming to Southport, and going to the casino on a Saturday night - in my 20's it was fantastic."
Maybe if I visit the casino and have a big win, I'll be able to afford something from his Speziale range.
