The Supreme Welly

Posted by Kathryn Carr on April 17, 2008 3:48 PM

I bought a pair of Hunters at the weekend.

Well, I say "I" did, actually Mr Fashionista bought them for me.

I'd been thinking about it for a while. Trying them on in Office in Chester, it all suddenly became too much.

"I think I'll have them.." I whispered to Mr F, all wide-eyed with welly-induced wonder.
"Tell you what," he replied, gazing lovingly into my eyes, "I'll buy them for you as part of your birthday present."

And then we smiled. And giggled. A couple on the brink of being torn apart by rows about my festival luggage (he deems a mere 8 times my own bodyweight "excessive") and there we were, brought together by a shared love of the highest quality of welly known to man. Somewhere, in the distance, the opening bars of an emotive James Blunt soundtrack began to play, and..

"They're £50." The shop assistant announced perkily.

"£50?" I yodelled.

"Yeah. But then, well.. you know, they are the Supreme Welly."

When it comes to the hard sell, Office have definitely got it covered.

"I think I'M the supreme welly.." muttered Mr Fashionista as we sat admiring them over coffee half an hour later.

But he isn't. I absolutely love them.

Kate Moss in her Skinny Grey Jeans

Jeans of the moment are skinny grey jeans. Get these from Asos -were £30, now £9. Team them with a brightly coloured bag like this green Miss Sixty one for an up-to-date look.

For general info about jeans and denim, have a look at the Denimology site, which has everything denim.

Vintage Clothes

Posted by Jo Kelly on April 14, 2008 2:18 PM

I've found a website selling vintage clothes at great prices. It's Absolute Vintage and sells handbags, boots, belts, shoes, clutch bags, dresses and accessories.

I haven't bought anything from it but I have my eye on this clutch bag for £20 and this butterfly buckle belt for £12.

Tracks of my tiers

Posted by Kathryn Carr on April 9, 2008 5:36 PM

If you buy one item to take you skipping into spring this year, make it a tiered skirt.

Well, I would say that, I have bought five in the last fortnight.. What started off as a whimsical little addition to my flagging spring wardrobe is now a full-blown obsession.

I can't get enough of them.

My first sighting of one of these gorgeous garments was back in January, and I've been hunting them down ever since, squealing with delight as they began springing up on the high street. The first one I got my hands on was a silver creation from Morgan - more of a lamp-shade than a skirt, admittedly, but that didn't stop me (I can never resist anything multifunctional).

They're flirty, floaty and fun, perfect with a vest and flip-flops (or, for the uber-fashion conscious among you, gladiator sandals), tights and uggs, blazers, leather jackets, ballet pumps.. in fact, the beauty of them is (other than that they are.. um, beautiful) you can wear them with anything.

I'll more than likely be wearing mine with leggings and wellies to brave the festivals, but don't let that put you off..

My favourites include this one from Mango, at £25

And this one from Topshop, for £35

What are you waiting for? The future's tiered!
