Carla Bruni's Love Affair with Dior

France's first lady Carla Bruni wore english designer John Galliano for French design house Dior
on her arrival at Westminster

Former model and folk singer Carla Bruni struck the perfect balance between sophistication and sexiness. Bare legs in March were toned down by simple, black ballet pumps (which also helped disguise the four inch height difference between her and...

...husband President Nicolas Sarkozy).

Grey is the colour most associated with Dior and the jaunty beret is oh-so French. Miss Bruni wore three outfits through the day.

A grey suit was chosen for lunch at Windsor Castle then a grey, wool jersey dress and navy blue coat for visiting Parliament.

It was Dior again in the evening when Miss Bruni sported a midnight blue silk chiffon evening gown with matching stole.

Christian Dior's Autumn/Winter 2008-9 Paris collection is full of knee-length skirts and dresses with belts falling in that odd space between the waist and the hips. Flattering.

The show was all about big hair, big eyes and Mrs Robinson-esque Sixties dresses.

Dior is a little expensive for some of us so try this sixties style optic print shift dress from www.missbutterfly.com for £7.

Or try this Vintage 1960s Swinging Sixties Mini Dress being auctioned for £55 at the moment on www.specialistauctions.com.

I will do some digging to find you even more affordable treats. Check back on Monday morning for a full swinging post on the sexy Sixties.
