Fairtrade Fashion Interview

Posted by Jo Kelly on February 14, 2008 9:03 AM |

Katharine Hamnett was interviewed on Radio 4 this morning about how she plans to save the world through fashion.

We're all meant to feel bad about wearing cheap clothes from places like Primark, which we throw away rather than repair. It's nice - in theory - to think we could all wear organic cotton t-shirts and fairtrade knickers, which we sit by the fire and darn when they get a hole or the elastic snaps.
I do not have the time or money for that and I won't let people with bags of cash and "people" to do their every bidding make me feel bad.

The oh-so-moral website has t-shirts with slogans like "Save the World" for the oh-so-expensive price of £40. I'll stick to £4 from Primark, thanks.
